It can only be used on an empty tile and it only clears the tiles in the same column which are not blocked by stone. Some of these are Golden Idols which help in progressing towards the Grand Prize. On the way they will encounter items buried in the sand which might be of value. To put it in a nutshell, the event involves playing a minigame, in which the player has to dig and explore a tomb which goes on infinitely. The mechanics of this event are vastly different from anything else ever seen. You have to clear the sand, advance in the tunnel and uncover lucrative prizes on the way.

It changes every day, however if you are not happy with the Daily Special you can change it once per day for an alternative Daily Special for the remainder of the time on the clock.
